The Blessings of Allah and the mankind’s ingratitude

Ar-Rahmān (the Entirely Merciful)

الرَّحْمَنُ {١}

The Most Compassionate,

عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ {٢}

has taught the Qur’an,

خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ {٣}

He created man,

عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ {٤}

and taught him speech.

الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ {٥}

The sun and the moon follow their precise courses,

وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ {٦}

and the stars and trees prostrate [to Allah].

وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ {٧}

He raised the heaven and enjoined justice

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ {٨}

so that you may not transgress the limits of justice

وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ {٩}

Therefore establish weights in justice, and do not give short measure.

وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ {١٠}

He has spread out the earth for all creatures,

فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْأَكْمَامِ {١١}

in which there are fruits and palm trees with date stalks,

وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُ {١٢}

and grain having chaff, and fragrant plants.

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ {١٣}

Then which of the favors of your Lord will you [men and jinn] deny?

خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ {١٤}

He created man from dry clay like pottery,

وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ مِنْ مَارِجٍ مِنْ نَارٍ {١٥}

and He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ {١٦}

Then which of the favors of your Lord will you [men and jinn] deny?

رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِ {١٧}

[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ {١٨}

Then which of the favors of your Lord will you [men and jinn] deny?

مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ {١٩}

He merges the two seas [of fresh and salty water] meeting together,

بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَا يَبْغِيَانِ {٢٠}

yet between them is a barrier so that they do not cross.

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ {٢١}

Then which of the favors of your Lord will you [men and jinn] deny?

يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ {٢٢}

Out of both of them emerge pearls and coral.

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ {٢٣}

Then which of the favors of your Lord will you [men and jinn] deny?

وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنْشَآتُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ {٢٤}

To Him belong the sailing ships raised up in the sea like mountains.

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ {٢٥}

Then which of the favors of your Lord will you [men and jinn] deny?

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ {٢٦}

Everyone on earth will perish,

وَيَبْقَى وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ {٢٧}

but there will remain the Face of your Lord, full of Majesty and Honor.

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ {٢٨}

Then which of the favors of your Lord will you [men and jinn] deny?
